WARNING! Nyko Intercoolers Break XBOX360 consoles!

Thanks for the heads up guys. I've modded my 360 about 6 months now and i have the Nyko intercooler to make sure my system would not over heat, not that i had overheating problems to begin with. I plan on getting rid of it and ordering the whisper cooling fan. I might just order a 360 case too. Man, i would have been mad if this NYKO POS had wrecked my 360.

I have the blue whisperfan and a clear airflow with blue leds, also the intec glow stand that I customized black
I also went the whole hog anf got a chameleon case too

it looks good altho to me green and blue and red all clash with each other.

Blue and purple blend better,the darker the purple the more evil the appearance :3

 

Hey,I was curious,for those of you who have modded your 360's,did you wait for your warranty to expire or just mod it anyways? I really want to mod mine,but I'm afraid if I do,and then I get the red lights or whatever,I'll be screwed.

 

warranty is dead if you mod it.

 

Yea youre right Im not too hot on the other colours, but I really like the red and blue together. Ive been thinking of changing out the leds to just blue and red changing. Might be something I di in the future.
Right now I leave it on static red or blue with the blue inside making the red sort of "purply"

 

Actually if its not that old, and you get it from walmart, firmware mod it or whatever, and you mess it up. Take it back, theyre sort of stupid at walmart, theyll swap it you, buddy of mine did it (had his 360 for only 2 weeks though)

 

aye if they check the serial # when returning the system there would be a big prob. But if they don't check, then they wouldn't know it was your old one or the new one.

 

I did this once and they will check everytime so do what i did and swap the cases problem solved the cerrect serial will be on the broken one so they wont know lol

 

I got one of the very first 360's, never had an issue, so I cant see it really being a design flaw, more so occasional individual flaws in the circuit board, or more probably, the power supply.

I can tell you though, I used to work at an electronics factory, they have around 20% tollerance for the part on the pad (ie a resistor, capacitor etc), 205 can make a big diff, so Im sure (especially after temperature changes) some are going to have problems.
MS will sort it (or they should) so you should be all set

 

I know I just ran into some trouble though! I get my box with my repaired 360 from the UPS store today, and when I picked it up it seemed very light! So when I went to my car I opened it ASAP! When I opened it to my surprise I found... a prepaid shipping label a plastic bag! I was like WTF! I went right back into the UPS store to see if there was another box for me in case they send 2 or something there wasn't! I then called 1-800-4my-xbox, I was on hold for 2 hours when I remembered I had a supervisors extension! The supervisor isn't available today so I will call back tomorrow! I don't know what to do!

same thing happened to me from a company, I received an empty box.
Its a case of tacing it back to packing and find out what happened.
Unfortunately, sometimes companies have items that "go missing" sometimes its geuine, (sometimes not)
either way, I pretty much doubt you will suffer for it. It may take a while though. It happened with a samsung mp3 player I sent back because oit was broken, they claimed to send a replacement, I got an empty box. Took 5 months to sort out, but ended up with a better player.

 

Sadly I'd have the empty box I can use than a poorly repaired RMA...I have had a few of thos..not a 360...but mobos,cards and such.

 

So I called M$ today to speech with a supervisor about it and he said he doesn't appreciate people trying to scam them! Then I was pissed! I said ok look the weight on the UPS label it says 1lb the XBOX weighs more than 1 pound! Right? "I am sorry there is nothing we can do" "No you can send me my XBOX back" Just go online and look at UPS.com and you'll see that there was nothing inside the box that weighed more than 1lb when it was dropped off" "I am sorry there is nothing I can do!" "You'll be hearing from human resources shortly"

So that is were I am at now!

Anger is not going to get you anywhere you need to be polite.
and call them and check with every supervisor you can this is on them because they shipped a empty box.

BTW if its not to late call UPS and see if they can start a claim hell they can charge MS for it I doubt it but at least they might can ofer some help getting that info to MS.

 

I can understand your anger but like zippy said, it wont get you anywhere. Personally I would have politely asked to speak to a manager. The supervisor was out of order with his/her attitude. If you had asked for their name/department then asked to speak with a manager, they would have seen you were serious and not a scammer.
IT DOES happen, empty boxes do get shipped, happened to me. They questioned me at Samsung too, but I persisted (scammers very often will not persist, theyre oportunist) you have to understand that its really easy for someone to say "I got an empty box". although it does get you angry, its your word against theirs, so you have to try get to the bottom of it.
It can be sorted out, just persist and be calm, speak to the manager when you call. Explain what happened.

oh boy... i have the nykon cooler on one of my two 360s... for like 2 months now no problems... maybe i should be scared, but it's been fine so far.

i was thinking of getting it for my 2nd xbox 360 cuz it's on a entertainment center shelf that gets damn hot...

unless there's a mod to use computer case fans... cuz i'd rather do that and put holes to fit 80mm computer case fans in the back of the shelfing... that would be leet.
