I was really bored one day & decided to see if I could backup a protected game a different way. I just installed the game and added a no cd patch to the game's directory. Then I burned that folder to cd-r(dvd-r if the file was too big). I uninstalled the game to check if it works then just copied the game folder to program files and shortcuted the .exe icon. so I now have a copy on cd-r/dvd-r and the whole game on hd so it'll play faster. it's worked so far with every game i've tried. only catch is u need a working no cd patch. Has everybody else done this before? It just seems too simple to work! With protections constantly changing it might be a good way to go. I know it isn't a 1:1 copy, but it's a working copy, and playing the game u don't know any different. share your thoughts, thanks.
Well you arent really backing the game now are you? Ur just burnign a bunch of files onto CD. Realize that (a) that takes more work (b) limits you to a specific version and (c) as stated before, you arent actually making a backup
