i bought a dvd from a guy on ebay, when it arrived it had a label on (which i know is bad news) this thing would play in my ps2 but not my home dvd player, but in the ps2 and computer when it gets to chapter 10 (just over half way in) it starts to freeze up.
i thought it could be down to the label so after a long fight i managed to get it and the glue off but still had the same problem.
then i tried to copy it with nero and the drag and drop way but that wouldnt work either it just gave me the error msg " cannot copy vts cycle redundancy check "

is there any way of saving this movie or should i just give up.

any halp would be much appreciated
    thanks

oh by the way the disc is a imation dvd+r 8x. it also has the rw logo on it but says it is a +r

I think you got took, imation is not very good media. You can use this to determine media code http://dvd.identifier.cdfreaks.com/ probably crapola CMC MAG.

Try useing dvd decrypter read ISO, write ISO.

    Hi there,

I just hope for you, you didn't pay lots of money for a copy of a DVD.

Half my DVD were bought on Ebay, but it always stated NEW from the factory or USED (Good Condition).

I guess I am still lucky, for not getting copies.

I hope you knew it was a copy he sold you, else I would ask for my money back !

At least if the copy was good, it's seems he probably burned it to fast, making bad copies !

    My 2 cents...

didnt pay a lot for it but took long enough to get here i let the guy know his media was crap and told him to quit putting labels on them strangely enough he hasnt got back to me yet, lol.

ill give dvd decrypter a try but i doubt im gonna have much luck with that either.

didnt mind that it was a copy he didnt say that in his description but i dont think it was ever released on dvd so its a vhs copy but its good quality.

    thanks for the tips fellas

If he sent you a backup of a movie and won't replace it to you for free, then turn him in to Ebay. It's people like him that are the reason the software/media industry are extremely pissed about having the ability to back stuff up.

yeah tin23uk leave negitive feedback on his profile in e-bay and email him till he gets you a good copy sent then contact pay-pal and try to get your money back and also call e-bay and tell them the problem. in no way shape or form should he be selling copies (bootlegs) on e-bay. your gonna have to push the issue .no sellers like the negitive feedback so do that right a way

wow, 4 times~ i have yet to see THAT many in a row, despite the server problems/issues that happened not too long ago that dRD addressed~ :p

as others have stated earlier, if paypal was used, it is very easy to file a claim, i've had to do this MANY times in the past, most of them were NOT fully resolved to MY satisfaction, but, since paypal is OWNED by ebay, your chances of coming to a resolution will be amplified if you contact paypal for the money, and 2ndly ebay regarding the bad copy~ FYI, you could use ebay's new "item not received" form to file a complaint, one of the options is to report it as being different than described or item was not in satisfactory condition as stated in auction description.

best of luck to you tin23uk~

hey thanks for all the replies, i left the guy bad feedback ages ago after i waited a month for the movie. got an email from him yesterday saying he was gonna send me out another copy, whether i get it or not is a different matter. wasnt too bad i only ended up paying like $4 i think after he refunded my shipping.

maybe hes more frightened of the consequences of his actions rather than from you.But at least you are getting some relief.

later man let us know how it goes
