Is there a way to watch live tv on the computer-- for example my local channels or any channels thank you
It's an add on card (or in some cases USB adapter) for the PC. It has an RF input that is suitable for cable or satellite, as well as over the air video (make sure you buy one with an ATSC tuner). You can watch whatever you are currently watching at home. Here's a representative sample: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=2000380047+1685342847&Tpk=TV tuner I am not familiar with streaming video feeds from free (or pay) TV sources if that's what you are referring to (watching TV over the internet). Perhaps someone more literate with that technology can comment.
you know most networks have websites that stream all their programs for free. ABC, NBC, and FOX for example all stream their programs online for free.
thanks to all- I have use ABC online shows-- but was wondering if I could get the local programs live-- for example the nightly news. I will check the turner card-- are you saying my tv also needs to be on at the same time? does the computer and the TV need to be in the same room? thanks lwalker
A TV tuner card turns your PC into a TV set. TV doesn't need to be on, but you need to run and antenna or a cable connection to the TV.
split the coax cable before it gets to the tv with a splitter then connect the tv & computer to that splitter. the tv can be watched on 1 channel while watching another channel thru the computer on your monitor.
