Is there software or a tweak to windows...... I have a desktop hardwired to my network that is running Windows XP. It is also connected to my cable, so I can watch TV with Media Center. Is there a way to get that TV reception over my network to my laptop running Vista?
I'm not to familiar with "windows media center" but it talks about using "extenders" boxes to connect another tv to you media center. What I use is sagetv (cost 70.00) it's the PVR software that is installed on my main computer. Then I have sagetv client (cost 30.00) software installed on every computer that I want to connect to my main computer. Everything is connected through the LAN. I could be recording 3 programs on the main computer and at the same time watching an earlier recording on one of my other computers. The video playback is flawless. It's all software based, no extenders required. As long as your laptop has a LAN connector and client software installed it can be used to connect to the main computer and watch streaming video from it. Theres also free type PVR software but I have not try any of them.
