I have stored some movies from TV to watch them later on DVD and, surprise, there is a problem. I cannot watch them on my HP with Matshita DVD drive. The movie is discovered as movie when I plug in the DVD and I am asked to choose the player. Regardless if I choose WinDVD, PowerDVD, WMP, and other I get a black screen only or nothing. The thread http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/564547 helped to understand where to look, thanks, but as a new here I could not post to this thread. I got to the point where I used DVD decrypter and I got the info: Label: Unknown Region: Unknown - RCE Protection:Unknown Copyright Protection System Type: Unknown and in next window. Device Authentication Failure Device: [0:1:0] MATSHITA UJDA765aDVD/CDRW 1.02 (D (ATA) Reason: Failed to get AGID. and in next window I 18:07:56 DVD Decrypter Version 3.5.4.0 started! I 18:07:56 Microsoft Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600 : Service Pack 2) I 18:07:56 Initialising SPTI... I 18:07:56 Searching for SCSI / ATAPI devices... I 18:07:56 Found 1 DVD-ROM/CD-RW! The DVD plays fine on external Memorex. Can I do something to play it from Matshita? I tried the DVDFab HD Decrypter but it hang few times and actually I would like to discover the way to play from Laptop. I tried GSPOT and I got Copy Protection Error - The read failed because the sector is encrypted. It shows everything ok from Memorex. Regards
Does the laptop play commercial movie disks ok. Where were the DVD's burned and do they play on other PC's. Try 'DVDFab HD Decrypter' instead of DVD Decrypter. http://www.videohelp.com/tools/DVDFab_Decrypter
Thanks attar, The Laptop play commercial DVDs ok. The DVDs were burned on Panasonic DVD recorder from TV (on HDD first). I checked it on two other laptops. Acer plays ok Dell does not but the problem might be with codecs since WMP gives a message that it cannot play it. My laptop did the same before I installed codec. I tried DVD Fab 5 but it crashes. Did not try hard though since I don't want to copy the dvd on the hard drive. I will try again. Regards Hubert
