Hi, First sorry ive tried searching I have heard people say they are able to watch movies/tv shows via a external hard drive. Is this really possible? If so, How so? The external works with pictures, but when i select video it says no video could be found Thanks in advance
does the external have to be specially formatted or just a normal computer one? also, do youu connect the external harddrive through one of the usb ports? lastly, in the xbox 360 modded?
This won't work unless your hd is in the fat format. If it is ntfs, it won't work with the 360. The 360 is such a fusking picky bitch when it comes to external media.
Neither... its HFS+ you need to format it in, which will prevent the file size limit you will experience using FAT. WMV-HD movies are typicaly 8.5gb. I use a program called MacDrive7 on the PC to do the formating and allowing the PC to address the HD to load the films onto it.
Excellent some replies at last Drive format is fat32(after being told it needed to be fat32 to work via the xbox) Files are avi/divx Yip the 360 is modded, connecting via usb.The xbox can see the drive as i chucked some jpegs on the external and they work ok It's driving me nuts, have spent a good couple of hours reading about it online, and i would appear i have done everything correctly. Could it be a firmware update required, current dashboard is 2.0.4552.0 Will be very grateful for any input or links
Do you have the xbox connected to live? If not you probably won't have the latest update which enables divx/xvid support. To get hold of the update manually, go to: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/support/systemuse/xbox360/console/systemupdates.htm This should sort things out for you...
Thanks for the update info, it now shows the video content But it says i need the following update (which i can't find anywhere) code 51-C000DF236 Any ideas? So near yet so far!!
