Hey all, I just bought a 1TB external drive by WD. I've connected it to my wireless router and am easily able to access in through the web for sharing or through "my computer" as an additional drive. The problem i have is that I would also like to be able to use it as "portable" storage. I've tried to connect it to my laptop with the ethernet cable, but it doesnt seem to work. Does anyone know if this should have worked, and if not, is there a way to make this drive portable?
    Thanks
    Sam

If you set it up as a local drive on the network so that it it accessible then you cannot connect it via USB directly into your laptop. Once it is set up the device is set for network settings not USB settings.
