I have look all over the internet about routers and webcams but there seems to be no amswers.

I have windows Xp. I own a Namtai EyeToy USB camera and i own a router awell. The problem seems to be that on Windows Live Messenger I can only view Webcams in my area not out of it. It works perfect. But if i try it with someone in another country/county it does not work. It also does the exact same when viewing someone else's webcam aswell. I believe there is nothing wrong with my Webcam as it worked before i got my router and works with me friends that stay nearby. It is not my Firewall either because as I said it work with my friends. Does anyone know what i could do?

    Would Be Much Apperciated

Sorry If this is in the wrong place

    John

So your webcam works fine with people in the same country, but not anywhere else? Are you certain that wasn't the case before you got your router? It sounds more like a problem with your ISP.

It maybe a case of turning on the upnp feature on your router so that msn can have full access to the net. But this isnt ideal for everyone as it will open up ports for every program you have on your computer.

So you could instead open up the msn video Conference/Webcam ports in your router.

    9000-9999 or 80 TCP, 5004-65535 UDP
