Does anyone know if it's possible to set my recorder, a Sanyo DRW-500, to record daily or weekly while unattended? Does it work on a 12 hour clock (a.m. and p.m.) or a 24 hour clock (military time)? I am just running a cable antena to my TV from a wall jack, without a cable box or satalite feed.
I believe the Sanyo works on a 24 hour clock(check the settings on programming the clock),but, regardless of which time format the only constraint you have is setting the right time. So 7,8, and 9 pm become 1900, 2000, and 2100 military time. Which is really a better way to program as you do not have to worry about am/pm.
Thank you Waarichichtj, you were absolutely right, my Sanyo DRW-500 DVD Recorder does work on a 24 hour clock. Now the only question that I have, which Sanyo support can't answer and isn't in the owner's guide is, "is the recorder capable of programming for weekly or daily shows, or is it only capable of ONE TIME ONLY recording?"
I do not remember if it can be set for serial recording or not. The time clock will not determine that. The manual should mention something about that in the recording section. Go to the Sanyo website and do a search. Good luck!
Ok, go to the Sanyo website, click on dvd recorders, this is off of the entertainment section on the left of the page, for products. Click on the DRW 500, it will bring up the specs of the unit. On the right of the page there will be listed a number of things including, instruction manual, click on this and download the manual and save it. On page 37, it lists setting the day and time for recording. You have the ball!
Sanyo support said that the DRW-500 is only capable of ONE-TIME recording. A followup to that is can a DVD disk just be added onto until its time is full?
While ,"support," says one thing consider what support has become. They are usually nothing more than phone centers, many times not even affiliated to the company and its products you are inquiring about. Follow the steps in the manual to set up recording programs and see for yourself. Until you ,finalize a dvd, you can continue to record on it. Once you finalize it you can no longer record to it. Also the quality of the media you use will have alot to do with your success in recording. The name brand does not constitute quality, there should be uniformity ,but, unfortunately, this is not the case. Do some searches on this site and on the web for dvd quality etc.
The Sanyo DRW-500 instruction manual says that recording default to "finalize". How do I change this or set it so that it won't be finalized and I can continue recording on the disk (up to 1000 times, I heard)?
Thanks, I've got everything working well. I just have to set it each week and it doesn't require finalizing to use as a recorder to be read on itself.
