@ BIGTOXY69 Thanks for the input. I was aware of this and in fact, bought some of the OD house brand the last time they were on sale -- using my last 50-pack now. I'm not hung up on the brand name but I have used the Maxells before and have been happy with them. My son winds up with about half of what I buy, so I got some more today. Good luck with whatever you use. I've got about 450 blanks now [unlike some people in here that buy a 1,000 at a time :}], and I plan to buy some TY's when these are gone.
tsquare43- I heaR you Buddy ! just trying to save you some money or get you more media for what you spend! I use to try to use the MIJ fuji's almost exclusively simply because they were on sale every other week at BESTBUY & it was a cheap way to get Taiyo Yudens ! But apparently where I'm at it appears that the MIJ Fuji supply at BESTBUY has dried up went today & all the fuji's are MIT (TAIWAN) guess I'll have to wait for them to put the MIJ sony's on sale to use my gift cards! i wanna ask if the verbatim MITs (taiwan) are the ones that people rave about and recommend since they're the only ones that my local best buy is currently carrying, in other words, are they the good ones i know that taiyo yuden is still better, but i already have several packs of verbatims, and i didn't know that sony's MIJs were taiyo yudens (so know i know to buy them whenever they go on sale). i have already tested several verbatim MIT discs and they all work fine (they code out as MCC-004-00), but i would like to hear other peoples' opinion. are the verbatim MITs taiwan recommended? also, since i am new here, i don't know if this is a good place to ask this question

[bold]docTY[/bold], thanks man! now i know i don't have to worry! i have been reading other threads that you have written and was interested in the modified firmware for my pioneer dvr-109 (well, dvd decrypter shows it as dvr-109, but the best buy receipt shows it as dvr-509) which allows you to booktype dvd+r to dvd-rom. i currently have the 1.40 firmware, but plan to upgrade it to the 1.58. if you can tell/show me how, i will appreciated a lot! thanks! also, since i am getting out of the subject of this thread, i don't know if the other members will get mad or something

neodave-Me too ! Went BestBUY yesterday and twas completely insane ! All the FUJI's were MIT (TAIWANS) & the sony's were'nt on sale so that killed that trip quick ! Guess I will have to hold my gift cards a little longer! Would prefer the MIJ Fuji's But would accept MIJ SONY'S , VERBATIMS, Or Even Maxells if MIJ or ritek Made! Maybe next year will be extra good boy ^& and tell santa to bring OFFICEDEPOT Giftcards instead then wait for a buy one get two free sale on OD/ritek media and load up !Or maybe he'll be extra nice & bring me prepaid creditcards that I can use online & get Taiyo yudens on saLe ! I gave BestBuy another try today at a different location. I must have looked through 100 of the colored Fuji 30 packs. Looks like Staples must have gotten all the MIJ because all I found were MIT. $9.99 seems like their everyday price. Back to work tomorrow....I can't wait. why not just buy 1 MIT fuji 30 pack and get staples to pricematch and get like 2 or 3 from them that are MIJ?
Nearest Best Buy: 45 miles Nearest Staples: 400 yards Around my area,where ever there's a walmart,there's a staples. That's about every 20 miles. Best buys and Office depots are about 50 miles apart if you don't live near a big city. I'm still set with plenty of sony tys and Mcc-004 verbs. I'm still waiting for that Office depot 100 packs of +8x or fuji/sont tys to go on sale. My nearest best buy didn't have the 30 pack spindles of fujis. They had every quantity besides the 30 packs-all taiwanese.
Hey you guys are still lucky ! You have Staples - I don't think we have'em in Louisiana ! BestBuY 30.miles Circuit City about the same , Officedepot 20 miles Wally world 15miles to 30ish one way ! maybe could order from staples online but I like to shop when I can actually tough & see the product when I can! lol. I got both Staples and Best Buy near me. Staples is REALLY close to me, Best Buy is a little further. I'm in Queens, NYC, NY.
I ordered a spindle of those Riteks for $26.99 that saugmon posted about earlier. I recieved them today and ran them through DVD Identifier. He was right. They do code out as Ritek R03.
