Weird power supply.

    Since I have a bunch of components laying around, today I tried assembling them into a working system. The first thing that I found was that the power supply, which was some obscure brand that I had laying around, started sounding like there was current arcing between points in it as soon as I plugged in the power cable and turned the psu switch on. The power supply worked fine, but that sound made me a bit cautious, and I unplugged it.

    Has anyone else had this happen? Also, it also made a sort of whining sound.

    PS: I am not using that PSU again.

    Your power supply is BAD!!! don't even use it. the whining noise is a capacitor that is charging, and if there is a blow circuit in the unit that is supposed to stop the charging and it doesn't, you'll hear a loud fire-cracker exploding soon! capacitor will explode(not like a bomb, but maybe on the lines of a heavy duty fire-cracker) and it will smell bad for a bit.

    I already said, that I was not using it again. I already know its bad


    Also, this reminds me of a time where I was near someone who was building a computer, and the capacitor in the seemingly-working psu exploded.

    Yes. PSU go SIZZLE BOOM. PSU smell bad.
