my friend in college has a gateway 4000 notebook. He says when he has it in his dorm with the ethernet cable plugged in it works fine. When he leaves his dorm and tries to use it without the ethernet cord plugged in it doesnt work, it will get to the windows login screen and then restart it self. what is goin on?
most nokebooks come with a wireless internet card in the so the notebook can search and find a singal in the air.you should have a little icon that shows the internet searching for a signal then you press connect and hook up to a signal in the air.maybe it isnt configured right.i not sure but try wireless connection in the control panel.and you should be able to configure the card to automatic or you might have to get a wireless adptor for a notebook if it dosnt have one.
