ok, i been using DVD Shrink for over a year, n had no problems with it... (i also been running w/o anydvd for a year n i havent had this problem, so i as able to burn movies w/o anydvd)

now i am trying 2 Shrink a movie and when i get to a certain % of encoding, a window opens up that says :

Dvd Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue.

    copy protection error.

The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error.

so how can i fix this, so i can start encoding again ???

shrink ran into a copy protection it could not handle so you will have to rip the dvd with a different program then use dvd shrink

    neonboy,
DVDShrink is just “a little over the hill” as far as the newest protections. It’s not being updated anymore..
Download AnyDVD (21 day free trial) or DVD43 (Free) and run one of them in the background with Shrink (not both, because they don’t like each other) and that should take care of the new encryption that Shrink cannot handle..

Don’t know what Movie your trying but if you do a search for it here on AD you’ll find a Guide by Alkohol that will lead you through copying it using VobBlanker..

A free program which I use is DVDFabdecrypter. Then after you rip it to your HD with that, use Shrink as you normally do, and burn with Decrypter. Works very well for me.

What is the movie title and where did you source it from, is it an original DVD you are trying to back up?

Neonboy, netflix is rented movies and illegal to copy. Here on AD we just make Back-up Movies that we own and that’s not illegal..

Supposing you wanted to back up one of your movies, then I would use DVD Decrypter to remove encryption and then DVD Shrink, you can also have AnyDVD running in background. AnyDVD is available free 21 day trial.
I would go this site and follow it in using DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink. http://www.dvdplusvideo.com

If you dont have DVD Decrypter its available at that site. There's not too many movies I know of that cant be backed up using that combo.

I agree that all newbies and others who are unaware should be riminded that we do not condone piracy at AD. It is OK to give information that may assist a member who wishes to back up a copy of his/her legally purchased DVD

I have noticed, with so many threads on the new Sony protections, that when trying to copy a whole Movie, that is, all the extras, etc. that many ppl are having problems.
I personally, only copy the Main Movie and have not had any problems with any of the New ones.
Alkohol has got some great Guides out on using VobBlanker to correct this problem.
Just do a search using alcohol and the name of the movie, example alcohol Madagascar for any of these words and you will get one of these:

    Use it, it’s good…..
