I have a weird problem, i am trying to convert a movie file (mpeg) to avi and when i am at the bitrate setting it doesn't show the whole movie. And when i am starting to convert it only converts 1 or 2 minutes of a 30 min movie.
windows media player does play the whole movie.
    Anyone got an idea ?

are you using TmpgEnc Xpress? The mpeg file you are trying to convert might have audio that is out of sync. Try using the old version of TmpgEnc to demux(seperate) the audio/video then merge them back together http://download.pegasys-inc.com/download_files/TMPGEnc-2.521.58.169-Free.zip
open tmpgend 2.5 and go to File>Mpeg Tools then go to the De-Multiplex tab, then just select you video. after youve separated the audio/video, go to the Multiplex tab and merge them together. If that doesnt work, then the mpeg file youre trying to convert was made with a very old mpeg encoder and cant be properly converted to anything else.

hum I would copy the original file and run the copy through divfix then try to encode it. I had that problem before and that fixed it, might be worth the try.
