I used to have a wrt54g linksys and had it configured to allow me to ftp into my xbox running evox. It burnt out the other day and I went and purchased a Netgear WGR614. Now I have a problem, my computer and xbox are both hooked up to the router through cat-5 and both receive an ip address. Yet I cannot ftp into the xbox. I have port forwarding setup for ports 20-21, and 9000-9999 (ftp client specified transfer ports). Any help on this issue would be appreciated. XBOX ip: 192.168.1.102 subnet: 255.255.255.0 gateway: 192.168.1.1 PC ip: 192.168.1.2 gateway: 255.255.255.0 gateway: 192.168.1.1
Look at the ip address for your computer. I'm pretty sure that ips have to be in the same range. 100, 101, 102 etc. I wonder if the .2 address is causing your conflict. Try looking at the network DHCP clients table on your router setup screen. Maybe look ate your dhcp starting ip address. It's a conflict, you just have to muddle through it.
Why have you forwarded ports to outside through your router? All you have done is open a security hole from the lan to the wan. This is more likely a firewall problem with the PC. What FTP app are you using?.. it could be the xbox ip is outside the range allowed by the router default settings.. try 25 or 40.. or enable dhcp
