Hello friends... I managed to make a couple of backups last week, and they came out fine. Now, today I tried again, and I am having no luck at all. Strange thing is, I can't seem to pinpoint what the heck I'm doing wrong. I seem to be having the most difficult time transferring the files from DVD Decrypter, to DVD Shrink. No matter how I name the filder, no matter where I put the folder, the files will not open in DVD Shrink... I get the usual " DVD Shrink has encountered a problem..." It seems as though Shrink cannot locate the file that DVD Decrypter made. And to make matters worse, I burned a couple backups successfully last week; but I'll be darned if I can figure out what I'm doing wrong here now. I know I'm doing something wrong here, and I can't put my finger on it. I tried naming the file VIDEO_TS, and I tried placing it in different places in the pc; the desktop; My Documents; Shrink just will not locate that file for me. Is there a setting that will automatically send that file from Decrypter, to Shrink? And is this the preferred method? I'm wondering if I'm attempting this backwards..should I first use Shrink, and then Decrypter? (I've read all the tutorials; I can't find a reference as to why Shrink cannot locate the file..) Thank you friends so much... Tommy
I always rip with Decrypter then compress with Shrink. With a dvd loaded open Decrypter, click on Mode, File F, then Decrypt. I never change the name of the folder, I let Decrypter name it. When Decrypter is done open Shrink, click File, then Open..., locate the folder Decrypter ripped to and click ok
I'm guessing that you're ripping in ISO mode, and you get a xxxxx.iso and xxxxx.mds. In Shrink [bold]you must click File, then choose Open Disc Image[/bold]. If you click Open Files (the button next to Open Disc) it will not work. If you ripped the movie in File mode with Decrypter, you will have a folder with a bunch of files in it. These will be xxxxx.VOB, xxxxx.IFO, and xxxxx.BUP. If you have this, that's when you click the Open Files button in Shrink, find the folder that contains these files and off you go.
AHA !! I think you hit it right on the head, Squizzle.. I think that is what I'm doing wrong; in fact I'm certain of it. Thank you so much; I was starting to sprout some more premature gary hairs here squizzle! I'm only 50, lol .. I gotta try and keep this light brown for as long as possible, my friend! Thanks so much again... I will continue with my attempts, and I'll master this one way or the other.... Tommy
Many thanks Ppower.. we were both typing at the same time and I didn't see your response there when I posted my last one. I am going to print yours and squizzle's replies and have that right in front of me when I try again. I was part right, at least.. Rip with Decrypter first; then Shrink next... I'm getting there... Thanks so much Ppower.. Tommy
