    I have used the guides on this site to burn DVDs but I never burn one successfully. Either the finished DVD skips or it only plays half and cuts off. I was told that I have to set it to NTSC in order for them to play in my PS2. Do I have my burner set on to high of a speed or do I need a different type of DVD media? I need help!

    -I use Memorex DVD+RX discs
    -An external DVD burner
    -the newest version of Nero

    Hi demarris
    Ok let's see if we can sort this out for you.
    The discs can be an issue - Memorex doesn't always use the best manufacturers and the usually problems with them are playback problems or burn errors.
    For those burn no higher than 4x - what have you been burning them at?

    Better to use would be Verbatim or made in Japan Fuji, Sony or Maxell.

    The NTSC bit - are you doing original DVD backups or converting like avi files? Which part of Nero are you using like Recode, Vision etc.

    Next make sure your external burner has the latest firmware. Go to Nero ToolKit>InfoTool(make sure burner is picked)>Drive tab - the firmware version will be listed there.
    Post back this info too.
    Here's pic to illustrate:

    Post a log of your burn project so that we can see what the problem is. Check the nero folder. If your trying to back up a dvd, then use a program called dvdfabdecrypter from here:

    http://www.dvdidle.com/free.htm

    This will rip the dvd to your hardrive, then you will need to shrink the size to fit onto a single layer disc, or you can leave it as is if you use dual layer. I haven't used nero recode, but I believe this can do it for you. Or use dvdshrink:

    http://www.mrbass.org/dvdshrink/

    When you back up the movie with shrink, the last tab will have a box that you can check off to enable burning with nero. As for avi files, nero 7 gives you the option of choosing either pal or ntsc. Dvdshrink also can make the dvd region free. You should always burn at the least amount of speed so that there is no errors.

    @demarris

    As Degenx suggested post the Nero log.
    You can find them here:
    If using Nero 6: program files>ahead>nero>nerohistory
    If using Nero 7: program files>nero>nero 7>core>nerohistory

    Just be sure to edit out the serial # - they begin w/ 1A,1C or 5C.
    Post the last one. The logs are separated by something like this:
    ====== *** Nero-Burning Rom, History File *** ======
    Copy and paste what's after the last one.

    If you are in a NTSC area and you have a PAL format (or vice versa) Vision will give message saying something like 'mostly in pal format do you wish to keep this format' Click no to change to the format for the area you are in.

    Here's another guide for you that uses that programs DegenX listed for dvd back ups (Recode also):
