Okay, the key word here is free,
dvd43 is free, works in the background to eliminate CSS protection as well as some anticopying software on the DVD.
    http://dvd43.com/
    DVDDecrypter http://www.filehippo.com/download_dvd_decrypter/
rips the movie onto yourhard drive where the resulting files can be shrunk with DVD SHrink
DVDshrink compresses the DVD movie files to fit onto a DVD-5 disk, 4.7 gigs. http://www.filehippo.com/download_dvdshrink/
Then you can use IMGburn http://www.imgburn.com/ to burn the file onto a DVD-5 disk. That's all and it's free.

Other alternatives to rip are, DVDFabdecrypter,
However, the two best programs out there, (not free but well worth it) are AnyDVD and CloneDVD2, both have a 21 day free trial.

    I hope this helps.

Question has been answered many, many times in this forum. There is a search function to look for answers before you post a question like this for the hundreth time.

The problem is, you ask a question like this, you will get 10s of different answers (a different perspective from everyong that reads and posts an answer for you. Each is as different as the individual.

Here are freebie programs and guide blivetNC has listed most of them. There are the free DVDFab Decrypter which will rip all the newer encryptions, the free DVD Shrink which will compress your file to fit a 4.7g disk, the free DVD Decrypter which will burn your file to disk and will also rip and burn dl disks. Or if you have Nero, Shrink will allow you to automatically burn with this program as long as you have ver. 6.6.0.18 and below. Software and guides on using these programs are available at this site.

You can also try the 21 day free trial of AnyDVD and CloneDVD2. AnyDVD is a driver that works in the background to break all protection, it also has a built in ripper. CloneDVD2 will compress and burn your disk. Software is available at

Guides are available from the bbmayo link.

He is a Newbie so be easy....

Huum, I thought I was being easy. That is like saying "[bold]can't we all just get along[/bold]". However, that question is the most basic of all questions when you think of it. This forum is about 1 click burning programs, so it really is not a stretch on anyone's imagination that the most basic of all question would have already been asked dozens of times in a area such as this, many times over?

Every forum I have ever been to (visiting or frequent) has the most basic question asked and answered many times over when a search should have revealed the answer quicker than waiting for a response. Its like going to an ipod forum and asking how to play music files or some other basic question. Still, I was not attacking the new person, I even gave him valuable information, he will not get the same answer from from every one and in the end, he STILL will have to make up his mind on which program HE likes best.
