what can i do now that i have a network set up?

    hey guys i was just bored and thinking of what i could do with my network. tell me what you have set up
    any sweet programs of things i can do????

    The main reason for having a network is to share resources. Now that you have a network setup, you can share printers, music, and videos. If you're using a Windows network, then you may be interested in setting up Windows Home Server (link here). This will allow you to not only share your videos, pictures, music, etc... but you can also backup your computers on a daily basis. Finally, you can setup LAN games that you can play against friends and family.

    I set up a file/dhcp/apache2.2 server at my home. The file and dhcp are self explanatory, but I use the apache server to host all kinds of things on virtual machines, from DHCP server logs (password protected) to my custom google searches and for when I feel like testing out some PHP or html code.

    I also use cain and abel, VLC, and VNC.

    But the main reasons, as pointed out above, are for gaming and for sharing resources. Including Internet if you have a router or ICS.

    I have a NAS for that I use to share all my media on the network.
