What you need is a Mpeg encoder and a DVD authoring Program..The Mpeg encoder will convert your Files to DVD Compliant Mpeg2 files and the DVD authoring Program will Take the Mpeg2 files and add chapters and menu"s and then author the Files to DVD.A Good Encoder to start with is "tmpgenc" and a Good DVD authoring Program to start with is "Tmpgenc DVD author...You have to realize that not all Files can be converted to DVD Format, Well most Can but some of them will loose so much Quality and some you would have to do certain Complicated things to that it would not be worth your Trouble to Put them on DVD ...To Convert Files Properly and to the Best quality you will have to spend a Few Months Practiceing and Reading a Learning but you can allways do it in a Half assed way and get one of those Programs that Encodes and authors all in the Same Program ,Like MyDVD or Ulead DVD Movie factory ect..Your WMV/ASF files will Probably not lokk good on a DVD as it is a Low resolution and Quality Format...And there is No such thing as Vob files and DVD Vob files all Vob files are DVD Vob files as Vob is the DVD video format which is basicly the same thing as a mpeg2 file...well you can find a Lot of info on this stuff here and at http://www.dvdrhelp.com/...cheers

The reason why DVD Shrink will not recognize these VOB files is because DVD Shrink Isn"t a DVD authoring Program it is a Backup Program so if all you have are the VOB files then it might as well Just be a Mpeg2 file because it is the Info in the IFO and BUP Files that Tell DVD-Shrink what to do with the Vob files..If you were to Download "Tmpgenc DVD Author" it would accept the Vob files and let you add chapters and your own menus and then author it to DVD, but the extra Audio and subtitles would need to be extracted first....Cheers

i i don't have the extras just the vob files in that instance so i would have to open them with that program , then save them then use the backup? is tmpgenc easy to use?

"Tmpgenc DVD Author" Which is different from "Tmpgenc" the Encoder, Is a DVD Authoring Program which is Used for Putting DVD Compliant Mpeg2 files or Vob files on to DVD"s..You will Have to Make your Own Menu"s and add your Own Chapter Points and Once you have set up your Chapters and Menu"s It will Format the Vob files into a Video_TS Folder that It will then Burn to DVD-R..Without the IFO and BUP files the Vob files Might as well be Just Plain Mpeg2 files , So you Have to rebuild the DVD Structure with the DVD authoring Program..This is a Totally Different Can of worms compared to doing simple DVD Backups with a Simple Program Like DVD Shrink...
