    Hello,

Is there a way to determine what CPU is installed in my computer without tearing it apart? I bought a refurb e-machine that is supposed to have an AMD 64 3200 proc. I am skeptical. I installed the most recent version of Java and it told me the AMD 64 version was not the correct version for me, so I had to install a 32 bit version. Maybe I am missing something. I am a little nervous about pulling things apart. Is the CPU under the fan and heatsink? Thanks.

Thanks for that ScubaBud. I have an AMD Athlon 64 3400+. When downloading Java JDK I was unable to download the AMD 64 bit version. I had to download the Windows 32 bit version. I have Windows XP Home edition SP 2. The computer is a C6207 eMachine. I dont understand why the 64 bit version gave me an error when trying to install. My best guess is that I have a 32 bit OS or something like that? Why would they have not installed a 64 bit OS version, if that is the case. Thanks.

    You're welcome :)

I don't believe they ever install the 64 bit version since it is not in high demand. Besides, where would the fun be for them if you didn't have to spend more money for an upgrade version... :)
