I want to purchase DVD copying software that can provide the following options: Support for dual layer media, Copy episode DVDs (television programs on DVD, music dvds (beatles anthology , etc), Fit just the movie on a single disc, Copy extras, menus, subtitles and audio languages (dts, thx all audio), Copy a movie to your hard disk, Split DVD onto two discs, fix scratched dvd’s, great tech assistance. Also, I need to get a CSS decrypter. What do ya'll suggest or recommended? Thanks, Allmanbro
For starter and newbies, I recommend the below programs/softwares. 01) DVD Decrypter (latest version 3.5.4.0 "this is great and free") 02) DVD Shrink (3.2.0.15 "this is free and it's great for starter) 03) Nero Recode 2 (retail, faster than DVD Shrink) 04) InterVideo DVD Copy 3 (one of the fastest dvd burning program) For decrypting engines: 01) DVD Decrypter (yes...it's free and it's really that good ripping and decrypting the encrypted protection codes) 02) DVD43 (free... it's as great as AnyDVD, though some people tend to have issues at times, only recommend for Window XP) 03) AnyDVD (retail... it's working great) 04) DVDIdle Pro (retail... this is as great as AnyDVD as well) 05) DVD Region+CSS Free (retail... another great cracking/decrypting engine)
@allmanbro I agree with alkohol... Those programs are very good and do the job fine... Also another program that is worth the investment is CloneDVD 2 Even DVDFab Decrypter also free does the same thing as DVD Decrypter but sometimes works better...
For that one click newbie...... I recommend Intervideo's DVDCopy3 along with DVD43...... together you can rip and copy whole disk or just the movie! It gives you options, too! The video quality is high!!!! and it's easy to use! The only prob with this program is that it burns at maximum disk speed. Use only good media with this program (Verbatum, Sony, Taiyo Yuden). I also recommend DVDFab Express! This one has the option of burn speeds! Quality is good! And it's always updated for life!!!! good program!
alkohol, you say some people have issues with DVD43free. What kind of issues would that be? I am using XP home edition as my operating system. Also, I am using a Plextor 716-A burner that came with easy cd creator disc copier. Is this software any good? Thanks
I have had problems with Roxio. For some reason it always failed when burning image files. You can use that for burning Data or if you want to quickly author episodes you download or add menus to .vob files if you decide to do a movie only rip. Also, if you can install the programs one by one by browsing the disc. Do not install Drag to Disc. Only install what you need, like Creator Classic 7 & DVD Builder. Decrypter/Shrink combo is my favorite. You can burn just about everything out there with these two programs. Also, Decrypter has its own burning engine, so you can use Decrypter for Image files and Roxio for DVD Folder.
allmanbro i have a Plextor also and liked the nero program MUCH better than roxio(as most will agree in here) it updates and is a much better program. iam convinced that CloneDVD 2 with anydvd in the background is the way to go also.i had VERY good luck using this program .IntervideoDVD Copy3 just doest have any re-authoring capabilities as you stated you want but is very good video quality you can download CloneDVD 2 and anydvd as a 21 day free trial before you buy heres the link .and if you do decide to buy type in "afterdawn" and recive 10 dollars off both making the total 49 dollars http://www.slysoft.com/en/ and a guide to use it http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/index.html remember to use GOOD blank media as in Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim(very important) and burn at 4X max.and you will have PERFECT backups everytime
@allmanbro, What I meant is that some people have had issue with DVD43 by installing on their computer, but it won't work for them (meaning it will act weird and sometimes it won't bypass/crack the encrypted protection codes that was put onto the original dvds). It is only recommend for Win XP users only. However, I've been using DVD43 roughly around 6 months now and it has been doing an outstanding job to crack/bypassing the encrypted protection codes flawlessly. It won't hurt to try you know, since it's free afterall. I recommend you to download DVD43 (free version 3.6.2.111) here at AfterDawn.com at the #2 server only. Once you've completed the download, run the setup and a "yellow" face will automatically detects any of your dvd rom/burner, then click on it and "exit" out. In the end, the choice is yours to make. To crack/bypass the encrypted code(s) by using DVD43, simply do the few steps below: (NOTE: keep in mind that DVD43 is only an engine that's running in the background to crack the protection codes only). **put original dvd inside dvd-rom **open any of your dvd program player such as PowerDVD, WinDVD, Window s Media Player, Nero ShowTime etc. **now play the original movie at least 1 - 2 minutes **now go to START, Programs, DVD43 and click on the "green face of DVD43" **now it should detect the movie and the encrypted code, it will turns into a "red/angry devil face", let it sit there for awhile (it's going to crack the code(s) that's all) **after 30 seconds -> 1 or (2 minutes the longest), it should show a "green smiley face", now you're ready to do your encoding/compressing with DVD Shrink or any of your desire programs. Now, let's get to the real deal and have some fun so eventually you can master the King of the Ripper aka DVD Decrypter. Yes... it's free and it's really that good decrypting and ripping dvd movies. ((NOTE: the following is only a basic guide that will use MODE, ISO READ only. Once you're familiar with this, then you can try the MODE, FILE F process alright.)) Here is a simple and basic steps to back up DVD movie, using DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink on a DVD5 disc(single layer), assuming you already have the latest from both DVD Decrypter & DVD Shrink: ** put blank dvd inside your DVD burner (please use good media such as Taiyo Yuden, Fuji, Maxell, Verbatim andSony) ** put original dvd in dvd-rom ** open up your “c: drive” or“hard drive”, go to NEW, Folder, name it “NEWBACKUPMOVIE” or anything you want, then hit [enter] to save the Folder, then EXIT ((NOTE: in prior to “decrypt or rip” your original movie, take a few seconds to check the few following settings on DVD Decrypter.)) ** open up DVD Decrypter, go to Tools, and Settings ** at General, “Removal Method” arrow down to “Aggressive” ** at I/O, check “Ignore Read Errors” ** at CSS, check “Brute Force  I/O key exchange, and On Failure: use key from another file [YES] ** at ISO Write Mode, check “Enable BURN-Proof ** now go to MODE, ISO, READ R ** choose your SOURCE<-- your DVD-ROM drive with Original movie ** choose your Destination <-- browse to your “hard drive” with your newly created folder earlier; example: NEWBACKUPMOVIE, then click on OPEN, and SAVE ** now click on “DECRYPT”, now go smoke or have a beer and wait until it's completed, then closed DVD Decrypter (this takes about 15 - 20 mins or depending on your computer specs) ** open up DVD Shrink, go to FILE, Open Disc Image, and browse to your ISO you created with DVD Decrypter (NEWBACKUPMOVIE) in your hard drive, and OPEN it ** now DVD Shrink should do a quick Analysis.... wait until it's completed (this takes anywhere from 1 - 2 quick minutes) ** NOTE: if you want super quality and just the main movie only without the extras and menu, then you can click on "Re-author" mode, click on "main title 1" and drag it to drop under the "DVD Structure", then click on BACKUP, and OK **NOTE: if you want to do a “CUSTOM” on a DVD-R/+R disc, set your CUSTOM to “4350MB or 4400MB”, or to your desire, but don’t “exceed” a DVD-R/+R’s capacity, to do this, go to EDIT, then PREFERENCES, and set it up, then hit “OK” when you’re done. ** NOTE: if you want a "Full Disc Backup" with better quality, then you should set the "quality settings" to “Maximum Sharpness” or to your desire ** now click on BACKUP, on TARGET DEVICE, select “Backup Target to: ISO Image File and Burn with DVD Decrypter or Nero" <--- your choice of burning, and on "select target image file": browse to your folder you created earlier “NEWBACKUPMOVIE” in your Hard Drive ** now hit “OK”, sit back, relax, go smoke, drink, or watch a movie on your TV, DVD Shrink will do the encoding, wait until it's completed (this takes anywhere from 15 - 30 mins depending on your computer specs) ** once Shrink is done, it should automatically back up with DVD Decrypter. ** that's it.... wait for Decrypter to finish the backup process and you're done (this takes about 7 - 10 mins depending on your computer specs). Hope this help you a little. Have fun burning!!!
