    I have the Lite-on SHM-160P6S / 16x8x16x DVD+RW / 16x6x16x DVD-RW / 8x DVD+R DL / 4x DVD-R DL / 48x24x48x CD-RW / Black/Beige Faceplates / Internal / DVD Writer. I am using Verbatim DVD+R to burn a DVD movie for backup. The burning program I use are the AnyDVD and CloneDVD.
The process of copy the DVD is fine, but here is the problem: the copied DVD can be played with the DVD burner but not the DVD drive in my computer (haven't tried a stand-alone DVD player).

What did I do wronng? Much appreciation in advance for all the help.

    Hi blizzard8
Sounds like you did everything fine.
May want to take the burn speed down a notch and see if that helps playback in the dvd drive.
That drive may need a firmware update to help recognize the discs.
    What's the make & model?

    Is the burner the SHW-160P6S?

I think that is the burner and I already updated its firmware. I've been trying to update my ACER 16X DVD-ROM & 48X CD-ROM, but I can't find the right updates.
How can I find out the specific model of this DVD-ROM I have and where can I find a reliable firmware?

    Thanks again.

Oops screwed up the italics for the W in SHW!

Ok to find the make and model go to 'my computer' - right click on one of the drives - go to properties then click on the hardware tab. The make and model of the drives will be listed there.

You can see if there is a later version here:

See if that helps and let us know.
