you will need a hd drive to read the disk, also you will need the software to rip the hd video files to your hard drive and the software to compress the files so they could be burn't to the blank dvd, thain you will need to have the software to burn the converted files to dvd
HD-DVD's can't be read by DVD drives--HD-DVD's require a different laser, and pack their information much more densely than DVD's. I figure that in the future, when HD-DVD computer drives become available, someone will figure out a way to rip them, but since there aren't too many of them out yet (I think there are a couple of Toshiba laptops that have 'em), it's not happening yet.
