What files get deleted if you already have windows ME and instead of choosing the upgrade, u choose new installation? A warning comes up that some files may get deleted, anyone know which ones? I'm more concerned about pics, mp3s, and videos getting deleted.

dude, if you ever do a system restore or install/upgrade of OS make sure you backup all ur data cause even though it may say no damage will be done, there is always a possiblity, so you dont wanna be caught out in that situation. and what type of install are you doing.

are you upgrading your OS from eg 98 - XP
fresh install eg XP - XP

cause this will affect the type of install u choose.

usually a fresh install means that it will erase everything and start over ("fresh")

    Hi cazmack,

First, what do you mean a "New Instalation"?

Do you want to upgrade your Windows ME ---> Windows Xp or somthing similer??

Is so, you'll lose all the data on that drive, so back it up to DVD's & CD's before you do so, that is if its important to you.

You can use apps such as Nero to burn data directly onto blank media quickly and easilly, that is if you have a DVD-RW/CD-RW, if not, you can use zip drives, external hd's and even flash memory pens, whatever you see fit.

You should back them up anyway, regardless of you doing an OS upgrade or such.

I hope that answers your qeustion.
