iv always wonder, looked on jeves, google ect but cant seem to find any awnsers, does any1 out there know?!?!?!
its called a PS/2 port, because it was originally developed for IBM's PS/2 family of computers, called "Personal Systems/2". Check it out: http://www.smartcomputing.com/edito...searchtype=1&DicID=18655&RefType=Encyclopedia What a bargain: back in 1987 you could get a PS/2 computer with a 16Mhz processor, 44MB HD, and 2 floppy drives for ONLY $11,000!
I believe PS/2 stood for Personal System 2. It was the first major architectural change in PC motherboards since the release of the original IBM PC - basically IBM's 2nd personal computer system design. MCA (Microchannel Architecture) was a new motherboard design that was implemented in the late 80s and included the PS/2 connector as part of it's specs. These days the PS/2 system is not longer being manufactured, but the redesigned keyboard and mouse connectors lived on.
