Hi all, hope you are all alright. I have been using the original R4 card on my daughters DS lite for years and even though people slated it I found it perfect for what I needed it for. Only problem is now new games are coming out which the R4 are unable to load. I am looking for a card no frills like the R4, purley want it for playing my daughters games from, back ups of course :+) Needs to be able to play new games e.g. mario & luigi etc What size micro SD does it support upto? Any good sites to buy it from? Thank you all for your time and knoweldge Mike
The original R4 was great, however there are now 40+ cards calling themselves R4, hence the first answer is to avoid anything with the R4 name in it. M3Real - plays everything, updates every 4 weeks or so for new games, one of the best / easiest interfaces around AceKard2 with the Akio firmware updates are often weekly, again easy to use but if you have a lot of games on the card the M3 real is easier. CycloDs the best for initial compatibility, very good but you do pay for it initially There are loads of others as well ranging in price from £4 upwards. As you are used to the R4 interface what ever card you choose you will be happy with. Regular updates should be the main concideration. As to retailer I use dealextreme.com, however a 2-3 week wait is usual. Depends where in the world you live?
I dont mean to hijack this thread but I didnt want to start another and confuse opeople or clutter the section, I am also interested in the M3Real and I visited the site you suggested and I see this: http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.14165 but it does not mention whether or not it is compatible with the DSi. Can you tell me if it is or not? I need to get a total of 3 of these things for my kids. I need 2 for DSi and one for a DS. Thanks for any help. Cube
Ok, I see this now http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.2728 and I see it's cheaper than the other link i sent you. Is there a big difference? Also, Im assuming this is the other I need.. http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.26858 I really appreciate the replies.
The first link you sent to me was for the Deluxe pack - this includes a ram pack to enable you to play GBA games on the DS Lite, if you do not need this facility then buy the cheaper one. Yes that is the link to the Zero for the DSi These both use the same firmware so it makes it easier to keep updated, you just need a micro SD card for each one. It is not exact but 4GB = 90 roms 8GB = 190 roms
