Doesn't it occur to you that you can always ask things in a nice, friendly manner? If I did indeed post where I got it from it would only help people that lived in Sydney, Australia as that is where I live. Any qualified Epson Service Center should be able to provide you with the revised tray. Just look on the Epson website for your country and you should be able to get a list of the service agents in your area.
By the by, I just hooked up a shiny new Epson R220 to see if it, and its pure Epson factory inks, could remedy the problem I have been having printing to Taiyo Yuden Disks with 3rd-party inks. It made no difference. It still looks like shit. That NEVER happened with any Ritek/Ridata disks I ever used. The inescapable conclusion is that the problem lies with the Taiyo Yuden DVDs. I'm going back to my good old Riteks right away and will return all of these highly-touted T-Ys immediately.
Kissmiss, you did see that I answered your question above, didn't you? In regards to your TY problem... Am I guessing right that you live in the USA? In Australia I have found that Verbatim are an excellent choice. They are rated in the same league as Taiyo Yuden. They are a very good quality and durable disc. The printable canvas is always good for a bright colourful print that I would say looks better than the Ritek discs that I have done. Also they are rated at 16x but my LG drive gives me the option to burn at 20x with these discs. :-D
Kissmiss:What kind of Tys? white-Matte/full hub? white-Matte/Reg Hub? Watershields? Shiny reg hubs? Shiny Full hubs?
Just so everyone will know. CompAndSave.com sell cartridges for an Epson Stylus Photo R260 but they don't work so don't buy from this place and get ripped off like I did. My 1st mistake was buying an R260 in the 1st place. I had an R200 and it used generic cartridges OK and it was great. I just used it so much it broke a gear. These cartridges supposed to be compatable with an R380 and R580, also. Don't believe them..... George
george sorry for your misfortune. Canon"s new printers, I don't believe, will use the cheap generic ink, the BCI-6 carts I use.
Well, maybe it will prevent someone else from getting ripped off. Thanks for the kind word, garmoon. Later George
I am from the US. The TYs that I had no luck with were of two types. One was their "Value" DVD-Rs and the others were the cakebox version. Both were, it should go without saying, white matte hub printable. Why would someone use anything else on an inkjet printer? But wait, the plot thickens............... I bought an Epson R280 and it prints acceptably well on the TYs. The Riteks still look markedly better, however. So the R220 goes to Cuba and I'll stick with the R280 and my Riteks.
Matte Full hub inkjet printables are mediocre-IMHO. If you desire better looking covers than the originals-step up to the Full hub shiny and Ty Watershields. Shiny inkjet printables look very good and give a distinct picture on them.I used the reg hubs a few yrs ago.Now they are abundant in full hubs. Better than those shiny's,comes the Ty Watershields. Side by side with a matte full hub,the watershield covers blows them away. I've got 2 unopened spindles of Hitachi Maxell Full hub Matte inkjet printable that I'll probably ebay them.
saugmon- nice but mine...are BETTER!~not really lol what software do you use? i use ACOUSTICA just curious.... those prints look quite nice but... you must be using fancy paper -tripplite
Tripp: I'm using basic epson Print CD software. No paper. These are the Taiyo Yuden Watershields which are glossy and waterproof inkjet printable media.Very hard to get a good pic of them with the glare they put out. And I'm using generic ink that runs a hair below $10 per set of 6 carts. Regular inkjet printable like verbatim and Maxell, not even a contest. nico: Best deals right now is 65 cents each with free shipping: 50 pk tub: http://meritline.com/taiyo-yuden-16x-dvd-r-water-shield-white-inkjet-printable.html 100 pk tub: http://supermediastore.com/taiyo-yu...inkjet-hub-printable-in-cake-box-spindle.html
Those discs look sharp! I wish they sold those in Australia! Anyone want to send some ever to Aussie land? Saugmon, are you saying that you can get a little water on these discs and the ink wont run? Whaaaaaat... If that is true then these discs are definitely the way to go. :-D
I think they look very shiny, too, but they're not my taste. At twice the price of Matte Disks, I can't imagine I would ever consider using them.
I'll pass on them too as I prefer a matte surface for my CD's & DVD's. Oh & if somebody doesn't already know, silver inkjet prints darker than white inkjet discs.
When the kids get a hold of any of my backups, finger print city after that. I'll clean the discs with my eyeglass spray bottle-both sides. Then wipe them off with a silk rag. The matte's,I have to just clean bottom only, and be very careful on the top side. I just sprayed one of those Ty WS with eyeglass cleaner. No ink bled off onto the silk rag. It wasn't slippery like you'd think. It still felt tackified, just like they were before the printing. So it passed my water test.
Here's a couple tys: Here's some lighter cover full hub matte: Lighter cover matte's totally suck! They do look better with the Ty and Shiny's.
What scan setting did you use? 2400 dpi or higher? I tried 1200 & it didn't look very good. 2400 was better & took 6 minutes to scan. Didn't try any higher as I know it would take much longer perhaps twice as long. Instead I'll make my own labels & print them with Acousticia like I do with the DVD recordings off of the cable DVR. That will be fine for me....
