    Hi

Ive just bought a pioneer 105 (oem) drive and havn't fitted it just yet.
Its my first DVD burner and after reading these forums for a few weeks I'm unsure about this firmware thing.

I run Win XP home and I presume when I replace my LITE-ON CDRW it will recognise the drive and I will be able to use it.

Can someone help me with the firmware because to be honest I havn't a clue. Do I download before I fit the drive or after, or does the drive come with this already? I'll be using it to backup my DVDs, putting all my WMA onto DVDs incase my computer packs up, and for some CDR work.

Can someone explain what I need to be doing before I fit it and probably wreck the thing. I have bought a selection of X2 and X4 DVD-R discs so I can find which works best.

Heres my computer spec in case you need it:

    Pentium 4 2.53GHz
    Windows XP Home
    512MB DDR
    60GB Hard drive
    Geforce 4 64MB Graphics.

I also have DVD shrink and NERO Express 5.5.10.4

    Any help is greatly appreciated

    Thanks
