I am recently converting avi to dvd. I used Nero I also used Cucusoft. Both have cons. Is there a professional Avi converter out there that anyone may use? Quality is first.

Ok how do you use the cinemacraft software? I can't seem to be able to upload the movie for encoding.

What do you mean upload the movie? Just load it in(you can even drag and drop) and then follow the guides for which settings you choose.

If you mean 'load', instead of 'upload', right-click the main screen and select 'Add'. CCE, without any 'help', will load AVI, MOV, DV.

The problem is that CCE is the more difficult to use application than all. It is extremely hard to use, it needs AVISynth to make difficult stuff (like loading VOBs and so on), maybe needs to be combined with VirtualDub's filters (e.g. to resize the movie to the standard DVD resolutions), needs some applicaton [I use DGPulldown because it doesn't affect the movie's A/V synchronization like AVISynth or VirtualDub do] to change the framerate of a movie (if your AVI is 22 fps CCE will create a 22 fps mpeg, and the standard DVD specifications are fps=25 for PAL and fps=29,97 for NTSC).

I think CCE is a great application for [bold] very advanced users [/bold] . For a 'normal man' I think TMPGenc or others are much much more useful....

I agree, but i suggested CCE since he asked for a "professional Avi Converter" , but ya tempgenc does a fine job.

More, CCE cannot modify the movie's framerate, necessary for NTSC <--> PAL or make AVI's resizing (an AVI movie could be 640x360, 640x272, 400x300 ... for instance, and these resolutions aren't compliant with any system's specification: NTSC is 720x480 and PAL is 720x576).

forget about converting to a standard dvd format and go out and buy yourself a tvtop avi player .

they start out at 50.00 U.S. its the only way to go !!!

burn your avi's as data disc , which takes minutes vs hours and load them in your new player and enjoy !!

i have the famous philips divx player dvp642 for almost a year now and i love it , it plays my backups nicely .

i just recently bought the dvdr 3355 philips dvd player /recorder , and this thing plays it all from xvid to mp4 , its yet to give me a disc error .

believe me bud , you will thank yourself in the long run for buying yourself a avi player , converting avi to dvd is a waste of time and power(which is precious money) , not only does it take forever , you end up looseing quality no matter what program you use , so cut yourself some slack and go shoping tonite for a new dvd player ..

The reason you want to convert avi to dvd because you can't burn avi on dvd atleast not with nero v6.6. AVI player sounds great but how do you burn Avi's on DVD?

Since CCE can't modify the frameset. Which conversion tool do you suggest?

just as a data dvd or cd, no conversion needed.

TMPGEnc is very good and pretty user friendly, if you want a one click solution go for something like ConvertXtoDVD or something like that.

open your nero program and select burn data disc , select dvd if the file is larger then 700meg or cd if lower then 700 meg ,

then drag and drop your file in the window and tick burn , thats it..

the tvtop avi/divx/xvid player should have most codecs needed to watch your files .

i bought my player about a year ago and am very pleased , the data burns are simple and fast and requires no conversion at all , and thats the reason why i bought the player , i was tired of converting my video files to dvd compliant files so they would play useing my old dvd player .

google " divx players " and find one in a store near u !

AAAAARRGGG!!!!! Someone Please help me!!!, I've Download the trial version of CCE SP. I know how to encode the AVI Files but when it's done
it seprates the AVI file to three seprate files wave,.MPV and.VAF. What are suppose to do after that. I'm guessing combing them and making them to one DVD complint File. But how do you do that??

I promise I'll get a good screen capture program soon, it makes "helping" others so much easier. Ok, using CCE SP 2.7 to convert .avi to mpeg.
    (1) load/open .avi file under file(standard)..then go to templete there will be a pulldown menu..decide what kind of DVD you wish to make NTSC, or PAL, multiangle, or standard..or prehaps with an inverse telecine( don't worry about that one..returns the framerate to orginal 23.976 film rate...gives your video that aged, nostalgic, news real feel) ok...you said it produced a .vaf file...you must have set the mode for SVCD instead of DVD...the trick is to click on the .avi file in the window..a screen will open up giving you many options for what you want to do..in the section labeled Mode be sure you have mpeg-2 for dvd selected. Over at the side you will see options for ELEMENTARY OR SYSTEM output...if you're using a high quality DVD authoring program you should want to check elementary THIS demuxs the .avi into seperate audio/video streams you should have a .mpv (video file) and a .mpa (audio) file the .vaf file comes up if you have SYSTEM output selected(you'll also just get a .mpg file( both audio/video muxed) notice you can also select you framerate at the right. Many other options too. I believe it's faster than TMPEG and better quality.
