What is Dual Layered?

Is dual layered simply a double sided dvd disc or, is it something else?

 

Actually, the two "burnable" layers are on the same side of the disc.

thanks. so when backing up dvds or games how do i tell if it need a dual layered dvd.

 

Single layer= 4.7GB

Dual layer= 8.5GB

Use a program like DVDShrink to compress DVD video to fit on single layer media...

If Shrink can't rip it, then rip it to your HD first with DVDFab Decrypter...
