    I have some avi files I'm trying to encode with Nero Vision so try to encode wait for it to finish but about two minutes into it nero will crash forcing me to do a hard reset. I had read that my nero version was unstable so I downgraded to 6.6.0.18 did that and the same problem I've upgraded my dvd burners firmware to the latest out defraged hd , tried uninstalling other programs and still nero will crash forching a hard reset. I have tried to encode the files with other programs and still I have to hard reset. Someone must know whats going on here right? Thanks in advance.

    That's unusual. I've been using Nero Vision for ages and I've never experienced any "crashing or forcing a hard reset, etc."

    Sounds like your system may be infected with a virus/trojans, etc. However, keep in mind that Nero Vision uses 90% of your CPU, so you gotta make sure you have enough RAM and tons of HD spaces available.

    Other things to look out:

    * fans/air flowing through
    * make sure your system is not overheating

    It sounds ok. How about your HD spaces? How much available?

    hi :)
    as alkohol says free HDD is a governing factor as follows for a straight
    forward burn
    the disc you are copying to..........= 4.7Gb
    disc you are copying...................= 4.2Gb
    15% of total for pc to do it's thing = 1.3Gb
    free space needed.....................= 10.2Gb (or there abouts)
    if it's a D/L then the amount needed increases dramatically
