    i dono about anti virus, but im pretty sure that none of those things that clear the memory for you actually work, but theres this awsome tweaker you should get called "XP Smoker PRO, it works very well

    the best antivirus/online security.

    This is my setup and I haven't had a virus/spware problem in over a year.

    1.)zonealarm firewall only (not the suite version)
    2.)avg free antivirus
    3.)firefox browser only
    4.)returnil free edition

    The first 2 items, you can use any different one you want, those are just my preference.
    Firefox browser is very good and won't be compromised as easily as internet explorer. Unlike internet explorer it's not hardwired to the registry.
    I use "returnil" as my antispyware because when it is "enabled" nothing will defeat it. Also "returnil" won't slowdown your computer. I have it installed on 4 computers and has never crashed any of them, it's the easiest "virtual" program available. What it does is, when you enable it, it will immeadiatly put your computer in virtual mode, everything will run in memmory only. Nothing that happens is transfered to the hard drive. When you reboot anything that occured while in virtual mode is gone.

    As far as memory optomizers, I tried them but never notice any difference. Most computer slowdown is caused by a "bloated firewall" or "antispyware programs running in the background".

    Anti Virus = Nod32 anti-virus 3.0

    Spyware = Counterspy v2

    + CCleaner for cleaning up the rest.

    May not be the cheapest but the question was "what is the best"!!
