Buddy, you just opened the floodgates. Good luck on getting a conclusive answer.... LOL

Nevertheless, I may as well chime in. I use DVD43/Recode2; and Decrypter for the VERY rare stubborn movies...

Well if you want to buy it, I'd get CloneDVD with AnyDVD.

AnyDVD with Nero Recode2 works well too.

Many people here like the free programs DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter.

I recommend you try a few of them, most have free trials.

The best software under $2000 is DVD-RB/CCE Basic period. DVD-RB has a free version but CCE Basic costs $58 and uses the same encoding engine as it's $2000 parent CCE SP. It is by no means the fastest (actually one of the slowest) about 2 hrs to encode a 7000mb video folder but for video quality it can't be beat by anything but CCE SP.

If you want speed and quality I recommend Intervideo DVDCopy3. It is one of the fastest and is second only to RB/CCE in video quality IMO. It has a three week fully functional trial period and can be found here http://www.intervideo.com/jsp/InterVideoDVDCopy_Profile.jsp
