What is the Best FAT PS2 Ver for Backups? I had my Ver 4 for a good 5 years and Now after using Swap Magic & a Fliptop for a good 6 months my PS2 Laser has decided to Bite the Dust.... Granted after 5 years it was bound to happen...

I just want to know if there is a ver that I can trust will last me a while... I know there is a guy here localy that fixes PS2 and sells them so before I buy another FAT 32 I'd like to know what's the best...

I also have a small Hard Drive and MC Exploit with HDLoader I was using right before my PS2 died which I know will save the laser in the long run but some games I'm still going to need to run from Disc

i agree, V7 all the way.
Although my V5/6 was also great.
When the laser finally went bad, i had a new one installed and a DMS4 Pro chip put in it, and it is back to better than new condition.
My V7 is still going strong, even though since i bought my chipped
V12 and chipped Xbox i have demoted it to the closet as a back up.

No, v9 or v10 is the latest fat version, but they have problems with the laser and lba chip burning out.

after searching all the local pawn shops and used video game stores for weeks for a used PS2 Period (there must have been huge demand for them this christmas season or something) I decided to take my chances at the local flea market... There is a guy who fixes Game consoles and is there every week.. I bought from him before and had good luck so I figured what the hell... well got there and he had 1 PS2 for sale and well and behold it was a V7.... Tested it out there everything works great... charged me $85 just for the console and will give me $15 for my old burnt out system so he use it for parts.. so for $70 I got me a V7... took it home poped my fliptop off the old one and onto the new.. hooked up my Hard Drive and now I'm good to go....

    $70 what a deal!
