Yes, Ad-watch is probably the best. Flyinghor's assessment that it blocks everything is very true--even things you want to open. But you can always fix that.
You can download ad-aware at download.com. I think to get the pro version, you have to download the trial version.

use the pop up blocker in Firefox, if thats not helping then what are the pop ups and when do you get them? i assume your talking about when your surfing? if it is not when your surfing then its malware and a pop up blocker isnt going to help..
