Hi all. This is my first post on the forum so I hope I do things correctly, if not please advise and I will amend my ways I have loaded onto my Windows XP Pro SP3 Nero 6 Ultra which has served me with moderate success. The problem that I have encountered is for a later date. The other day I was given the Nero 8 Essentials program. My questions are: What is the difference between these 2 programs, which is the better of the two and why? All information welcome. Regards
If you go on Nero’s website and compare the two you will see the later version Nero 8 has more features then Nero 6 each time a version is released more features are added and updates etc Nero 8 is said by many, has a lot of bugs in it. I use Nero 7 which is more stable then Nero 8
Thanks Killalot. So for the time being I think will stay with Nero 6 Ultra and give it some thought. Just on another point that you may be able shed some light on. I made some home movies with a DV camcorder and captured it to the PC as an AVI fille. I then used a program to convert it to MPEG, but when I tried to burn it with Nero 6 it was not recognised. My friend who has Nero 8 (as above) installed also had the same problem. When I tried for a burn I received an advice notice that to get it to burn I woud need to (I think it said) render it with a program like Nero something or other. Do you know anything about this suggested program and more importantly is it free? Regards
If you want to put the video file on a DVD-r or a DVD+ the file needs to be mpeg 2 if memory serves me correct in Nero I think you need to use Nero recode to convert it if you Google the question you will find plenty of free programs as well that will convert it if you look in the guides section on this site there is a guide that shows you how to do it in Nero
Forgot to say if you are trying to burn the video file to a blank disk with it being either a dvd-r or dvd+r so it will play in you standalone dvd player it needs to be in the video_ts standard when you look at a commercial dvd you will see two folders on the disk a video_ts and a video audio folder in the video_ts folder there is bups ifo files etc and the video in the audio folder it will be empty so what you need to do is just convert your mpeg file too this standard im sure Nero can do it I’ve never use myself to do it the thing is I cant remember the bloody program I use having a blonde moment I’m sure someone will come along and tell you what programs you can use
Hi killalot. You are spot on. That is exactly my problem and what is needed. >so it will play in you standalone dvd player it needs to be in the video_ts standard when >you look at a commercial dvd you will see two folders on the disk a video_ts and a video >audio folder in the video_ts folder there is bups ifo files etc and the video in the audio >folder it will be empty. My converter program will give me MPEG, but it does not matter what I do, I cannot get the required video_TS, audio_TS or BUP file or whatever, so Nero does a big barf and tells me I need to do "it" and tells me that Nero program XXXX is required or a similar program. What I really need to know is the name of the program, where can I get it, and as said before, is it free or is there a cost involved. Man I feel cheap, but then, I am very "fancy" Regards
Here you go try this never used it but gets the job done when I get in from work I’ll let you know the name of the program I use http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/avi_to_dvd_avi2dvd.cfm
And This one does the same job http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_tools/vso_divxtodvd.cfm
Thanks killalot. They certainly look to be just what the doctor ordered. I will look into them in more details over the next week or so as I have a lot on my plate just at the moment. Regards
