what are the dimensions to see what the size is & any electrical ports on it? I know there is a speaker in it due to the grill work on top.
It's a small voice recording or sound playback device that comes in different shapes and sizes. They're often found in stuffed toys, and smaller versions in greeting cards. https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/pull-string-toy-mechanism-customized-music_62553720431.html
Thank you Sophocles - Ive opened it up - took screenshot - 1st thing I notice is that -the switch joints Never ever been soldered to those 2 points - I worry if I try to solder a switch with 2 wires on that joint that it May Overheat & damage. I tried shorting the 2 joints with a screwdriver ,but No sound . The batteries - 3 x LR44s ?? I will try to Replace these - & get back, any advice on soldering without overheating is good.
Ok, I just found out why it Never Been Soldered - & would Love to know why we cant see a Mercury switch - as soon as I put it the 3rd Lr44 - I could Hear Tim Allen/Buzz Lightyear. Puzzle solved - But still would Love to know how these Toys work if there is No mercury switch ??? or is it some kind of motion sensor ??? -he starts Talking as soon as I move this Device - so Does this Mean -these LR44 Batteries are always ON until they drain ???
motion switch might be on the bottom side of the board as can see the ends of 2 long leads but not what those 2 leads are part of. can remove the 2 Phillip screws to see what is on bottom side of the board.
All the talking toys I've seen has had either a pull string, especially the older ones, or a pressure switch that you push to activate it. The pull string toys require no battery and the pressure switch one do. The pull string devices worked like a spring powered record player (gramophone), while the newer battery operated ones probably have a digital chip device in them. Did you notice how it was powered?
Yea, the wires and soldered board pointed in the direction of it being electronic. What the image doesn't show us is how its sound is activated, but I suspect there was or is a button on it somewhere. If the button is attached to the outer toy and is disconnected when the device is removed then there might be a hollowed area where the sound shaft-actuator is inserted.
"attacked"? I think there is something attached to the bottom side of the board to the right of v1.2 as can see 2 different color solid leads sticking out of the board & folded over. I think it might be a motion sensitive switch.
I found this manual online but it could be for a completely different release of the toy. This one had an infrared remote control. The problem is trying to identify an infrared receiver in the image of the unit. Yes Judy 85805, there is almost no limit the members of this forum won't go through to identify a toy and how it functions.
I remember when those things had a string you pulled and a little multi track record inside.. they went at about 150rpm.. I remember we pulled one apart in the 70's and tested it on my record player.
