I stopped using 9 because my main computer is never connected to the internet after having 8 HDs trashed from a unstoppable malware. I say unstoppable because I could find no way to prevent the attack. Your BIOS is infested then during the boot process where the computer connects to the hard drives the MBRs are rewritten so only an infected OS can access them. It also rewrites/overwrite the windows login routine. During the login the OS shell is rewritten/overwritten. The end result is your OS is in control by a hacker and all your security that might have raised an alarm is neutralized. Most likely the alarm routine doesn't report any bad findings. That way the security appears to be working just fine. This is why you are not finding malware even though more new malware is found daily than was found from 1990 -2010. I mention this because this is SOP for ANY stealth virus. Everyone feels very safe since their security hasn't found a virus in years. No one cares that 300,000 new viral signatures are found daily. These are probably found in a business environment where the security system is far more robust than a home computer. These systems cost tens of thousands of dollars and ought to be more secure.

The only prevention would be to have an BIOS write jumper which was an option years ago but not now.

I am finished with the education.

I now find the old DVDfab site is no more. Now it is either www.dvdfab.cn or ww1.dvdfab.com. I don't trust china for anything. Even the bulk of smart devices coming from China are infected with botnets. Some have hardware to boost the range which they can attack other smart devices. computers, smart phones.

I am wondering if I am suffering from malware and the old site is up and running or that it is now in the Chinese domain.

    Any comments...
