I have a Sony Vaio desktop. It is a few years old and has never had a problem. Recently my CD RW drive ceased recognizing that a blank disc was present. I tried reinstalling the drivers and that didn't work. I removed the drive completely and reinstalled and that didn't work. My next guess was it's time to purchase a new drive. However, the same issue persists. My next guess was it must the program I was trying to use. No luck. Every program I try returns the same issue. Also I tried differnt CDs, different brands, and different types(i.e., -/+). I would appreciate any help with this greatly. THANKS.
If you put a cd in the drive with something on it and then take it out does windows recognize that the cd has been removed?
