i am looking to install the k-lite mega codec pack on a new vista run machine but in the software section i can see two options, the K-Lite Codec Pack Full v3.5.7 (freeware) (file = klcodec357f, 13MB), and the K-Lite Codec Pack Update 11/01/07 (freeware) (file = klcodec357, 16.6MB). can anyone tell me what the difference is and which one would suit me best. i only download and burn or watch movies. Now i have just noticed a Vista codec pack v4.5.4 in the News section so is that a better suited option for vista ?? also i see in the comments section that it has solved a problem with Media Player 11 that was only interpreting avi files as audio. that is why i was looking for a codec pack in the first place as avi files were not showing any video in my Media Player 11 with a visualisation window instead. i dont know if playing it in a media player classic would solve this.
ballboy88, Download the codec pack for Vista OS. And yes, Media Player Classic should be able to play your AVI files just fine. I presume you're missing the video codec. Download GSpot to determine what codecs you need to properly view your AVI files.
Thanks mate. i was just abut to install the k-lite mega pack when i noticwed there was a vista pack elsewhere. i take it this one will do the trick better if it is for vista exclusively. cheers.
