Hi I have tried several Laptops and have only found 1 out of 5 thats works with a SATA PCMCIA Via adapter card.

The cards are good but I'm looking for something more affordable then the $5000.00 laptop I got it to work with.

Reply please with any make and model laptops that are known working with a PCMCIA SATA card
    Thank you,

    Joe

LOL trust me I have searched and have been trying for about a week to find a laptop that is confirmed working with a PCMCIA slot ...

And actually no-one actually states what laptop they are getting this to work on. Theres a few post referring to the VIA freeze but that isn't my problem...
Mine is the card must not like the Chipset on the laptop motherboards I have been trying. I tried a Gateway MX6956, Compaq Evo, 2 Dell Latitudes with no luck....
I may have seen one maybe 2 that refers to a laptop but they are also searching for infomation on how to get the SATA PCMCIA card to work....

Thanks ! Thats what I'm looking for.

I know how to install the card but so far I only found one laptop that worked with the card and its way to costly to buy for flashing. Its like $3k-$5k in price so thats way out of the question...

It would be cool if we could start a list of all the known laptops that work with the PCMCIA SATA adapter card --- It would save time and money for people looking for a laptop...
I would hate to buy something off Ebay and not have it work !

    Thank you

Ok just an update I was able to get one Dell D820 to see a sata drive through the PCMCIA Sata adapter but I then tried another Dell D820 with a different onboard Sata chipset and the laptop froze and so on and rebooted on its own and I had to choose load last known good config so it must be the onboard chipset/configuration of certain laptops these cheapy cards dont play friendly with. I have ordered my last PCMCIA adatper to try it comes with 1 SATA & 1 ESATA port on it and is supposed to be better at working in most laptops. WE WILL SEE

And you ask why go through all this ? Well at first it was all about being able to flash portably but know its just the principal of it I WILL MAKE THIS WORK - even if it means buying a new laptop or used one LOL
Oh just a FYI the Mrs. dont need to know about the possibilty of another laptop ha ha ha
