Hello everyone, I'm fairly new to backing up DVD movies and would like to know what method is good for backing up original DVD movies. I would like to back up the movies to 4.7 Gig DVD discs while maintaining good quality. I've been using the program AnyDVD with CloneDVD where I am able to fit a dual layer DVD movie onto a 4.7 Gig DVD disc. Using CloneDVD I am able to burn directly to the blank DVD disc or place the files onto my hard drive for later burning onto a blank DVD disc. I am able to choose how much quality loss per movie in order to save disc space. By choosing an acceptable quality loss per movie I am able to reduce the movie size and are sometimes able to fit two movies onto one 4.7 gig DVD disc. I would like to be able to put two or more DVD movies on one 4.7 Gig DVD disc and create my own menu so when it's inserted into a standard DVD player I could choose which movie to play (similar to being able to put more than one movie on a vhs tape depending on what quality you set the VHS recorder to (SP, EP, or LP) and the ablity to view any one of the movies when viewed on a VHS player. Bottom line, I'm looking to put as many movies onto one DVD 4.7 Gig disc, or when the price of Dual layer discs, Blue Ray discs, or other media comes down in price the ablilty to store my movies onto those discs also. If there is a better compression technique out there that I could use without too much loss in quality and the ability to have standard DVD players play the discs please let me know. I've heard of divX but most DVD players don't play divX. Thanks to all who reply, Ismael
Look do the math 50 disc fo 15.00 bucks = 30 cents each if you put more than one movie on a disc it will look like shit on your tv and you will get legos and freeze ups because of the compression you will be much better off one disc one movie. use Shrink rip just the main movie don't rip the extras or nothing elese you will get a good looking movie
yeah... 1 disc costs 30 cents. if you dont have 30 cents, go outside and look for 6 nickels/3 dimes/30 pennies etc... plus u get much better quality
>> I would like to be able to put two or more DVD movies on one 4.7 Gig DVD disc and create my own menu NeroVision Express (or just NeroVision) will do what you ask. Just keep lowering the video bitrate till they fit.
but if you continually lower the bitrate, the quality of the movie will suck. my cousin has a dual layer disc with 3 movies on it with a menu and it looks awful. it is a much better idea to use 2 dif discs.
Well, apparently he just want to get two into one no matter how AWFUL it will look. Let him have it his way. I think in the end he'll come to his senses.
