Some songs that I have look like this in the properties: and I'd like to fix them, so they're editable like this:
I don't have a clue on why some MP3's have tagging problems. Where the ones you had problems with downloaded or did you rip them from cd's yourself?
These were from songs I downloaded a long time ago...before WinMX hit the scene...had them on an old CD I found down in the basement, thought I'd add them to the growing list of my ripped collection I have on a backup server. Nowadays, I use EAC to rip the CDs...and Audacity to copy off of cassettes. For the cassette songs, I manually edit the tag..as EACs was set from the beginning.
Using that program, it showed that the files didn't have ID3 v2.0 tags...only 1.0. I sort all my songs in the folder by Artist, so having the v2.0 info, they get sorted properly. Only one song didn't support the addition of v2.0 tags.
not exactly sure if this will work, but try opening your song in winamp, where in the middle where it says the song double click the song name and edit from there http://www.winamp.com/player/free.php download free version ^ winamp
@ panic I think that will only work if the MP3 has V.2 ID tag info. If it only has V.1 then it might not work.
The song I was working on, looked like it supported v2...you could fill in the information, but when you saved the file, nothing would show up. Opening the file again, showed no v2 info. The rest of the songs accepted the v2 info without any probs. Thanks for the tip Panic, though I don't use WinAmp.
I seen that Panic, however the song file itself would not accept the data. I tried three different programs. As far as Media Players go, I use Nero's Media Player simply because it has a kickass EQ setup which goes great with our 5:1 surround sound setup. Only quirk it has, is that it likes to reset to default settings on it's own once in a while.
