I'm going to purchase the laptop until about the beginning or middle of may.

Ideally I would like to purchase a second generation core i5. But because I rely heavily on Dragon NaturallySpeaking which requires quite a bit of horsepower and I want something that will have enough power to be capable for a good amount of time.

I am concerned about battery life because I use a wheelchair and it would be difficult for me to reach that outlet.

What are the main advantages of the second generation core i5 over the current generation? I have never bought a laptop before and I am curious what I should be looking for and if there is him and that I should be waiting for or paying attention to?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

The second gen uses a little less power. It also comes with a hardware version of a rootkit, the implications of which could be quite dire...but so far no one has exploited them.

Thanks, I was hoping the second generation would use a little bit less power so that I would get better battery life. I am thinking about getting an i5 480. A piece of software that I rely heavily on requires 4 to 6 MB of cache to run at an optimal level. Do the second generation processors have more L3 cache?
    Thanks
