What software do i need?

    Hello
    I have searched some forums but i am new to this and i am not sure i understand. I want to convert my mini dv tapes to dvd. I have the firewire cable and i have nero oem 6.3.1.17 and nerovision express 2 se 3.1.0.25. The only thing i can burn to is VCD. What other programs do i need that will allow me to burn to DVD? I am not looking to edit anything , i just want to transfer from mini dv tape to dvd, because the quality of the VCD is not that great.
    I also have windows movie maker , but i only see options to burn to cd not a dvd.
    Any comments appreciated

    when you transfer the files from camcorder to pc are they avi or mpeg2

    I don't think they are either
    They are windows media (TM) Movies
