What software will do this?

    I'm trying to move away from Nero. Would prefer freeware if possible.
    I need the software to do the following:

    Backup from 9GB DVD to 4GB DVD
    Convert any size DVDs to Xvid
    Convert Xvid (etc) to DVD

    As I'm backing up my full sized (originals) software needs to be able handle that without issues.
