Hi, I am interested in purchasing a ps2 and putting either a Matrix Infinity GD or DMS4Pro SE mod chip. What version of the ps2 works best with a mod chip?

I have read in the forums that the with the DMS4Pro SE/v14 combo that you can't connect HD to ps2 but works fine with the v13 ps2. It was a comment so Im not sure how reliable it is.

My major concerns are: Will I lose some functions of the DMS4Pro SE on the v14? If so, then should I try and purchase a v13 instead? Was also wondering why a v14 was released because I havn't seen any reported flaws in the v13. I did see that there were problems with v10-v12 though.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

That's true, because in the V14 Sony have removed the HDD points.

Personally, if I had a choice I'd get a V9 or V10 or something, V12 are known to have laser problems, I don't think this exists in the V13/V14, but if you plan on getting HD Connect or HD Combo to put a HDD with your PS2 later on, get V13. Also if you want a HDD later, DMS4 Pro is a good choice, otherwise you could consider Matrix Infinity too.

Try DVD Decrypter - there's a link in my sig. on how to use it.

Also what I meant is what DVD-R disc did you use, the brand and rated speed?

Follow the guide in my link on how to burn discs. Things you need to take in particular care is the burning speed.

Also Verbatim DVD-R is the best choice out of what you have. Have a look here for what's good to use: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/240341

I wouldn't be surprised, the website is down now. It's important to find a reputable site when you want to get something. I think teammodders have quite a good reputation according to some people on this site, never tried it, but I'd try them out if I had a chance :)

As I said, http://www.teammodders.com/ is probably where you want to go. Contact them and I'm sure they'll install another chip for you, I heard their charge is quire reasonable too.

As you can see I'm a Matrix Infinity user, and it works great. If you look at the first post in this thread, you'll see two chips: Matrix Infinity Green Dot, and DMS4Pro SE - they are the two best chips available. Personally I'd suggest MI as I never had a problem with it, others will tell you otherwise and suggest DMS4Pro, at the end it doesn't really matter which one you get though :)

I'm not sure where they are and where you are, but I'd imagine you can probably work something out with them if you are close to where they live.

Having said that, people like steimy (who's been here for a LOT longer than I have) have 100% faith in them, and trust them with all the work they do. I understand you might be worried because you've had a bad experience, but with these guys I'd say just trust them and let them do what they do best :)

It's always worth contacting them and finding out where they are, and if they aren't too far away you might be able to drop your PS2 off and see them do it.
