Hi I am thinking of getting a video card for my comp.... the main purpose of the card is to record films from tv (and then perhaps convert them to divx) and then later view them through tv.out on the tv.. I want to spend as less money as possible, but still get a fine piece of equipment (like 40-55 euro). Does the quality of the recorded videos depend solely on the videocard; I should be able to enjoy the recorded films on tv, without seing the dots (that make up the picture) as huge boxes. Personally I am content with the quality of recorded vhs on a video .. so you know... Secondly; does the fileformat saved on computer depend on the video-card... i should be able to convert the recorded video to divx/xvid And finally, the sound should be sync, but need not be excellent.. I have my eyes on a "Pinaccle pctv rave" But what do you recommend??? All help is VERY MUCH appreciated... _X_X_X_X_X_[small]Divx is cool[/small]
I have a PCI tuner card that I use with the existing video card and rate the picture as excellent. Along with the card I've acquired the intervideo DVR program which allows me to record shows with the same features that are available with a vcr timeshifting ect. Once you've recorded you should be able to convert the digital recording to a DVD or any other existing format. My problem is I have not be able to understand what software is necessary to convert the digital file.
I like to clarify some statements I made above. The tuner card was purchased from Hauppauge at Hauppauge.com. It is a stand alone program that will enable you to view tv on the computer including cable if you have access. The intervideo program was purchased separately and enables you to record tv shows digitally. Bird.
Thanks for your reply. But I am a bit confused now.. you refer to the tunercard and intervideo as programs.. aren´t we talking about hardware... (cause software shouldn't be a problem to retrieve.. what I am missing is hardware) Secondly, you say that the tunercard is used to view tv on pc, and then you need more equipment, to actually record the broadcasted shows... isn´t it possible to get a videocard, and then get soem software which can record... What format is it saved as??
The tuner Card is Hardware as I'm sure you're aware. The intervideo DVR is a software program that allows you to record what is being viewed on the tuner card. I'm ninety percent sure that it is saved in the Mpeg 2 format. I will check and if I'm wrong I will correct it later. Yard.
